The reason I am looking to access the DVD writer, is to create a system rescue disk but obviously it is not able to work without the D: drive. If not choose Uninstall, restart PC to reinstall the driver. Click the Windows icon in the taskbar, and then click Control Panel Double-click Device Manager Double-click DVD/CD-ROM drivers Double-click the driver that. Go to the ‘Boot’ tab in the BIOS and select Add Boot option. If that fails see if Roll Back is available. Steps are provided below: Boot mode should be selected as UEFI (Not Legacy). Under DVD Device, click on Driver tab, first try Update Driver > Automatically. On the View tab, choose Show Hidden Devices. I now humbly with my tail between my legs, come here to the experts to beg for some assitance. To attempt to repair this, go to Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button. I have attempted to update registry for the device, uninstall the devices from Device Manager and rebooted a million times over the last two days and even tried to install an run Tweekui's Driver Talent scan tool, which found nothing. Windows knows enough to skip D: but not smart enough to show it on THIS PC in File Explorer. The fix for any of these issues is to update the driver for your CD/DVD drive. Windows 10 will detect the drive then reinstall it. Exit Device Manager then restart your computer. Expand DVD/CD-ROM drives, right-click the optical drive listed, then click Uninstall. In addtion to the internal HDD, I have two externals which show up a C: E: and F: Many driver problems are caused by a missing or corrupted device driver. Boot to the Windows 10 desktop, then launch Device Manager by pressing Windows key + X and clicking Device Manager. The drive in question shows up in Windows device manager as TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-222AL. My computer is ASUS motherboard, running the latest BIOS for P8Z68V-LX. I think it dates back to when I did the Windows 10 upgrade but not sure, I hardly ever used the DVD writer, even before that, so this may have been missing since that time (about two years ago). I have searched for two days and tried everything that google served up to try to get this drive to show up.
